Giving Thanks

The meaning of Thanksgiving has been lost in the midst of the best Holiday sales and going out to fight others for them instead of being home, enjoying family and friends, and living in the moment.  My job required me to work on Thanksgiving to take care of the dogs at the pet hotel so I didn’t really mind going to my aunt’s house a little late for Thanksgiving.  I felt bad for the dogs who were there because their family just wanted them out of the way for the day, so it was nice to spend some time with them.

I had yesterday off though so we made our vegan Thanksgiving feast and spent the day watching movies, cooking, and eating.  In between everything, I wanted to go for a walk since I really haven’t had a chance to be outside all week.  Our walk didn’t really last long at all because it’s hunting season and hearing all the gunshots made me nervous.  It was also really cold and windy, and we were both ready for our dinner waiting for us at home.  I did get a few cool looking pictures of the lakes and got to be out in the sun for a bit so it wasn’t a complete waste of time.

And the dinner we made was so good!  Everything was excellent, right down to Patrick’s first attempt to sweet potato pie.  I’m impressed with us.  What am I thankful for this year?  My friends and family.  I had a tough year financially and I got lots of help and understanding when I couldn’t go places or had to settle for a cheaper option.  I’m also thankful for my job.  I love working with animals and although it can be very stressful at times and doesn’t pay well at all, it’s still a great job.  (Picture taken 11/29/13)
